Description
Knowledge of a foreign language is important in today's world for practical, cultural, and intellectual reasons. Those who are proficient in a second language have a clear advantage in many fields, becoming "citizens of the world" in a time when communication with and an understanding of other cultures are paramount.
Course Requirements
A minor in German requires the completion of Germ 303 and 304, and 9 additional hours at the 300 level or above. A maximum of 9 credits for the minor may be taken through an approved study abroad program.
Students must complete an emphasis in business or cultural studies. The cultural studies emphasis may include any 9 hours of Germ credit at the 300 level or above (in addition to Germ 303 and 304). The business emphasis must include Germ 311 (Business German), Germ 394 (German Internship), and 3 additional hours at the 300 level or above (in addition to Germ 303 and 304).
Other Academic Requirements
Grades lower than C in modern languages courses will not be counted toward the major or minor in modern languages.
