The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

B.S. in Radiologic Sciences (2+2)

Description

The B.S in radiologic sciences (a 2+2 program with the University of Mississippi Medical Center) prepares students for a dynamic profession that is ever changing in terms of technology and professional expertise. Radiologic science is a specialized field in which professional specialists perform medical imaging procedures for the purpose of diagnosing disease and injury. The radiologic scientist is responsible for performing a variety of challenging and interesting examinations on a diverse patient population including diagnostic radiography, bone densitometry, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, and sonography.

Course Requirements

The curriculum for the B.S. in radiologic sciences is a two-phase program consisting of a two-year, 60-hour academic program in the College of Liberal Arts with a 2.5 GPA. The second phase is a two-year program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center or other such institution.

Students must meet minimum criteria to apply to UMMC by February 15 of the year they desire entry, and admission is competitive. For further UMMC admissions information, see the UMMC catalog.
