106 Garland Hall
University, MS 38677

The Department of Applied Gerontology offers a B.S. in Applied Gerontology and an ONLINE Minor in Applied Gerontology. The programs are designed to prepare students to become leaders in the emerging multigenerational workforce, to enter numerous multidisciplinary occupations and be highly competitive in applications to professional schools and graduate programs that focus on healthcare, legal and community service studies. Students complete a specialized internship that allows them to work in a variety of settings that help provide them with an enhanced ability to make more informed career goals.

All Applied Gerontology majors must complete a recognized minor in an area other than Applied Gerontology. Students who are double majoring, or have completed a previous bachelor’s degree or hold an approved professional certification/license in a second degree area may request approval to waive the minor requirement

Students with previous college-level course work must have a minimum resident and overall GPA of 2.0 to enter this degree program. See the degree requirements under Programs.
