The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Soc 314: Sociology of News

Sociology & Anthropology

The purpose of this course is to consider the functions of print news in developing views about society. Students will examine issues that span the scope of the 20th and 21st centuries to examine how print media and the nature of news have changed over time and what newspapers knew and how they reported about events tied to race, religion, genocide, sexuality, and class.
