The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Degree Requirements

The academic regulations for this degree program, as entered in the University of Mississippi Catalog, are in effect for the current or selected academic year and semester. The University of Mississippi reserves the right to 1) change or withdraw courses; 2) change rules for registration, instruction, and graduation; and 3) change other regulations affecting the student body at any time.

M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction

Requirement Hours Description
Edrs 605 - C min 3 Complete Edrs 605 with a grade of C or better.
Edci 503 - C min 3 Complete Edci 503 with a grade of C or better.
Edci 601 - C min 3 Complete Edci 601 with a grade of C or better.
Comprehensive exam Student must pass a comprehensive examination.
Field experiences Student must complete at least 45 hours of field experiences as approved by his/her GPC/Chair.
Portfolio Student must complete a professional portfolio.
Select an emphasis Select an emphasis in elementary education, secondary education, or special education.
GPA requirements A cumulative average of not less than 3.0 (B) must be achieved in all graduate work taken.
Engineering Dean's approval This Degree Audit program is an advising tool only. The student must still apply for a degree by returning a completed Degree Application Form to the dean's office before the last day to add classes in the semester preceding the semester in which the stuent expects to graduate. The Dean's Office will make the final certification that the courses listed on the application qualify the student for graduation. The Dean's Office will also determine if other university requirements (GPA, etc.) have been met.

Emphasis - Elementary Education

Requirement Hours Description
Specialty area 15 Student must complete at least 15 hours of course work within his/her speciality area (language arts/reading or math/science).
6 hrs electives 6 Student must complete at least 6 hours of electives. Each course must be approved by the student's GPC/Chair.

Emphasis - Secondary Education

Requirement Hours Description
Complete an option Student must option one of the two secondary education options. Option 1 requires the student to complete 15 hours of course work in their specialization area and 6 hours of electives. Option 2 requires the student to complete 21 hours of course work in their specialization area and be a full-time student at the Oxford campus. All courses must be approved by the student's GPC/Chair.
Option 1 To complete option 1, student must complete the following requirements: - 15 hours of course work based on their specialization area (English, mathematics, science, or social studies) and - 6 hours of electives approved by the student's GPC/Chair.
Option 2 To complete option 2, student must complete the following requirements: - 21 hours of course work based on their specialization area (English, mathematics, science, or social studies) and - Be a full-time student at the Oxford campus.

Edsp 552 3 Complete Edsp 552.
Edsp 628 - C min 3 Complete Edsp 628 with a grade of C or better.
Edsp 683 - C min 3 Complete Edsp 683 with a grade of C or better.
6 hrs electives 6 Student must complete at least 6 hours of electives approved by his/her GPC/Chair.
Add'l Edsp courses 6 Student must complete at least two additional courses in special education as approved by his/her GPC/Chair.
