SARAH ISOM CTR FOR WOMEN&GENDER STUDIES
The course will examine concepts of courtship and romantic love among African Americans to access the central roles that race, gender, class and social forces played in the most private, and intimate of matters. Students will access that importance of "love" as a social construct among African Americans and how expressions of it complement or diverge from Euro-American conceptions.
