The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Degree Requirements

The academic regulations for this degree program, as entered in the University of Mississippi Catalog, are in effect for the current or selected academic year and semester. The University of Mississippi reserves the right to 1) change or withdraw courses; 2) change rules for registration, instruction, and graduation; and 3) change other regulations affecting the student body at any time.

Accy 602 - C min 3 Complete Accy 602 with a grade of C or better.
Accy 607 - C min 3 Complete Accy 607 with a grade of C or better.
Accy 613 - C min 3 Complete Accy 613 with a grade of C or better.
Accy 614 - C min 3 Complete Accy 614 with a grade of C or better.
Accy 620 - C min 3 Complete Accy 620 with a grade of C or better.
Accy 750 1 Successfully complete Accy 750.
Accy 797 18 Complete at least 18 credit hours of dissertation (Accy 797).
7 add'l hrs accountancy 7 Complete at least 7 additional hours in 600-level accountancy courses. Each course must be completed with a grade of C or better.
Comprehensive exam Doctoral students must complete a comprehensive examination.
Dissertation prospectus Student must submit and defend a dissertation prospectus.
Final oral defense Every candidate for the Ph.D. degree must successfully pass a final oral examination (defense of dissertation) administered by the student’s dissertation committee and scheduled by the Graduate School.
Minor field Complete at least 12 hours in a minor field.
Minor field GPA A cumulative average of not less than 3.0 (B) must be achieved in all graduate work taken within the minor field.
Research tool course 15 Student must complete 15 hours in research tool courses as approved by his/her GPC/Chair.
Submit Dissertation Student must submit a dissertation to his/her GPC/Chair. The dissertation must conform to the regulations governing style set forth in "A Manual of Thesis and Dissertations Preparations", available in the Graduate School Office. Two copies of the dissertation must be presented to the Graduate School after the final examination for the doctorate has been accepted and before the beginning of the regular examination period for the semester in which the candidate plans to graduate.
GPA requirements A cumulative average of not less than 3.0 (B) must be achieved in all graduate work taken.
SOA Dean's approval This Degree Audit program is an advising tool only. The student will need to verify his or her degree requirements with the Office of the Dean. At that time, the Office of the Dean will make the final certification that the courses listed on the Degree Audit qualify the student for graduation. The Office of the Dean will also determine if other university requirements (GPA, residency hours, etc.) have been met.
