The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Preliminary Requirements

For the M.A., in addition to meeting Graduate School admission requirements, applicants must submit a letter detailing their reasons for wishing to pursue a M.A. in journalism. Please send this letter directly to the Department of Journalism. Applicants also should provide three letters of recommendation, including one addressing the applicant’s mass media experience, if applicable.

Applicants who do not have the equivalent of an undergraduate major in journalism will be required to take 12 hours of approved undergraduate journalims (Jour) courses (reduced by any acceptable undergraduate journalism hours that have been completed). Students who do not have the equivalent of an undergraduate major in journalism but who have work experience in the field may submit appropriate credentials and work samples to be considered in lieu of undergraduate courses.
