The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Preliminary Requirements

Students with previous college-level course work must have a minimum resident and overall GPA of 2.0 to enter the B.S.W. program.

Students are admitted to the M.S.W. program on either a regular admission track or on an advanced standing track. In addition to meeting regular Graduate School requirements, students seeking regular admission to the M.S.W. program must meet or submit the following: • Completion of the following liberal arts courses: statistics, psychology, sociology, human biology, and 12 hours of electives in the social or behavioral sciences • Resume, personal autobiographical statement, essay, 3 letters of recommendations and background check.

In addition, students seeking admission to the advanced standing program for the M.S.W. must meet the following: • 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work • 3.0 overall GPA • Completion of B.S.W. degree from a CSWE-accredited program within the last five years

Prospective students should understand that admission to the M.S.W. program is competitive, with slots limited in number and dependent upon the availability of faculty. Meeting the above requirements does not guarantee admission.

No academic credit is given for life experience or previous social work experience.
