General Overview
The Department of Higher Education is dedicated to developing professionals who advance ethical, just, and effective practices at institutions of higher learning. Degree programs are designed to help students combine theory and practical learning experiences to advance postsecondary institutions and the field of higher education. Curriculum features flexibility with online and on-campus course degree options at the master’s and doctoral levels. The Master of Arts (M.A.) offers an optional emphasis on Intercollegiate Athletics Administration. Two distinct options for doctoral education, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), and the online Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) are offered. In addition, the department of Higher Education offers an online minor for undergraduates and gives academic oversight to the University’s academic orientation and career advising courses offered by Student Affairs.
Accreditation
The M.A. program is aligned with program guidelines as outlined by the Council on Academic Standards (CAS) of the American College Personnel Association. The Ed.D. program adheres to principles for professional practice doctorates as advanced by the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED).
