Global Security Studies Minor

Description

A minor in global security studies (GSS) familiarizes students with the skills and background necessary for entry-level employment in the national security sector.

A minor in GSS requires students to complete the following courses: INSS 1350, INSS 3010, INSS 3511, and three elective courses (9 hours) as outlined below. Substitutions are permitted at the discretion of the director.

ELECTIVES:

Any course offered by the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (CISS) such as INSS 1250, INSS 3600, INSS 4999A, INSS 4800, and INSS 4900. The only exceptions are INSS 3512 and INSS 4996A, which are not approved elective courses for the GSS minor. Students may take up to one elective course (3 hours) offered by other departments related to national security such as foreign policy, international relations, conflict studies, history of war, weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, and cyber. Students must receive prior approval for a course offered outside of CISS.

Other Academic Requirements

Students must complete each course in the GSS minor with a grade of "C-" or better. Students not meeting these requirements may be dropped from the minor.
