CEL 101: Community Engaged Leadership 101
Community Engaged Leadership 101: First Year Bonner Program Workshop Series CEL 101 is a 1-credit-hour course for students enrolled in the Bonner Program. The course is designed to assist students in growing into campus and community leaders during the first semester of this four-year program. Students will learn about the state of Mississippi in preparation for their community engaged work, learn about theories of leadership and apply these theories through teamwork activities, and develop the personal and professional habits required to be successful in their work with nonprofit community partners. Students will review literature on community engagement, learn from campus leaders, develop a partnership with a community-based organization, reflect routinely on their experiences in writing, and begin conceptualizing a Bonner capstone project.
