Anth 355: The Anthropology of Drugs

This class is dedicated to examining the concept of a drug from an anthropological perspective. What is a drug? Why and how do humans produce them and use them? And how have drugs impacted culture, health, and politics? Topics include global clinical trials, "natural" healing practices, and the impact of the war on drugs in Latin America and elsewhere.
