The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Soc 353: Community Development

Sociology & Anthropology

Community development refers to the broad set of skills and institutions that local communities utilize in an effort to improve the quality of life for all residents. This course examines the history of housing, economic trends, and social policies, both domestically and internationally, that have affected marginalized communities, and the various ways through organizing and capacity building that community development professionals and activists have sought to improve these conditions. Topics will include the provision of affordable housing, community economic development, education and workforce development, food systems, environmental sustainability, international agricultural development, and globalization.
