The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Description

Learning to teach English as a second language is important in today's world for practical, cultural, and intellectual reasons. Those who have the ability to teach a second language have a clear advantage in many fields, becoming "citizens of the world" in a time when communication with and an understanding of other cultures are paramount.

Course Requirements

A minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) requires 18 hours of Lin courses. Students must complete Lin 200 and Lin 250, and 12 credit hours from the following courses: Lin 350, 355, 351, 551, 561, 581, 572, 571, and 552.

Other Academic Requirements

Grades lower than C in TESOL courses will not be counted toward the minor in TESOL.
