The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Description

A minor in creative writing emphasizes the craft of writing and of revising creative literary work in several genres, including fiction, poetry, screenwriting, and nonfiction. The study of creative writing requires close reading of literary works, discussion and critique of peers' work in workshop settings, and the development of creative writing techniques and strategies. The minor serves students who wish to improve their writing, communication, and analytic skills, as well as strengthen their imaginative and expressive faculties.

Course Requirements

A minor in creative writing consists of 18 hours of English courses and approved electives taught outside the department: Clc 303, 304, 305, 307, 308, 309, 333; Lin 303, 304, 305, 506, 510, 511, 520. Of those 18 hours, students are required to take Eng 199 and at least 9 additional hours of creative writing courses:
